Anyone’s experience with finding assisted living is challenging, confusing and emotional. Our experience with Leslie from Somerset was fluid and simplistic. She has an amazing way of connecting to families. We felt right at home!

I wanted to move from the assisted living place where I am at to Somerset because I have a friend living there. I went for a tour and gave them a $1500. deposit. They had a large size unit which I put down a deposit for. I was assured, I would have the first opportunity to move into that apartment. I had two cats get sick and I couldn’t get over there again quickly. When I called today to to finalize plans to move in, I was told by Jill, the marketing person, that the apartment had been rented. I was told that the people that moved in had their deposit in first. That is not what I was told when I was asked for $1500. to hold the apartment for me. I was only told that the apartment would be mine so she could get my $1500. I had already given a 30 day notice to my current assisted living so now I am without a place to live in 30 days. What a cra—y way to do business. I had a friend, another marketing person, get fired because she refused to lie to people. It will be 30 days in two days that I put dpwn my deposit. Because of what happened earlier (see above) I was told that I would have my deposit back, at the latest two weeks. I don’t have it. These people lie with a straight face. They are suppose to be kind people. Judging by the results they think they can keep my money,I am going to add to this review every week until I get my $1500.00 back. I will be 80 yrs old soon and I need my money.I sent a letter to the corporation that oversees this assisted living and very soon I had my money back. It was nice to finally deal with honest people.

To say the staff and especially April went above and beyond would be an understatement. They made the last weeks with my mom a beautiful experience.

Just moved a loved one here and I am extremely pleased with how welcoming and caring the staff has been. It’s hard for many to make this transition (both for families and their loved ones needing care). Somerset has truly made me feel fortunate to have found the very best place for my loved one.
After our mom had passed, we show up two days later to remove her personal items; clothing, furniture, misc personals – we arrived to find her room unlocked, rearranged, and that Management had done this so they could show the room to the public. Management did not ask our family for permission to do any of this. A sentimental item, her music box, was also missing. The room was still paid for and we were within the time to remove her property as stated in the rental contract.Extremely unprofessional and disgusting behavior on Somerset’s part.Families, please make note of this and make sure you instruct Somerset NOT to touch your deceased loved ones room without your permission in writing.

Our experience with Somerset Assisted Living has been excellent. All throughout my mom’s residency there these past years, the staff at every level has been so thoughtful, so caring and overall just exceptional. Now as my mom is nearing end of life on home hospice, that thoughtful, caring, and exceptional situation has just put my good-will towards this place and the people there over the top and more than I can convey in an online recommendation. I feel so strongly about this recommendation that I am taking the time to write it now even at this sensitive and hectic time.We had experience with other places previously and for us there was just no comparison to Somerset. The management is excellent, the nursing and med staff are excellent, the support staff and kitchen are excellent. For those new to assisted living and looking for a really nice and worry-free place, you will want to consider Somerset. Keep in mind (as we learned), that the first month/s at any place you go will be an adjustment time for you or your loved one (or in my case family) to adjust to the new life and routines of assisted living in general, just as the staff there will need time to adjust to you and your routines. There will be times of frustration for you or your loved one as they settle in wherever you go, but once a routine is established and you get to know the staff it will become a god-send! The quality of the nursing and meds staff will be very important and here is another area where Somerset is a god-send. Lastly, but definitely not least, in fact maybe near the top, would be the quality of the food, the chef and the kitchen staff and not to sound like a broken record but here too Somerset was a god-send for us.A last thing that makes Somerset excel above the competition for us is the fact that they are a large facility so have the scale offer a wide variety of activities, services and importantly friendships….but unlike some of the other places we had experience with, though large, Somerset is not as rigidly corporate, but flexible when appropriate which is often at just the times that flexibility is appreciated most!
