What Makes Generations Different?
What Makes Generations Different from Other Independent and Assisted Living facilities? With us, it’s personal.
This month as we celebrate 80 years of business we want to take a moment to highlight what sets Generations apart from other senior living spaces. The answer is simple: With us, it’s personal.
Family Caring for Family
First and foremost, Generations senior living communities are about family caring for family. Decades ago, founder Wendell White created a vision of independent and assisted living communities that put the family at the center. We believe a focus on intergenerational social interaction, healthy living, and feeling at home are key for every stage of life.
The result of Wendell’s vision is beautiful assisted and independent living communities where residents enjoy life, participate in a wide array of indoor and outdoor activities, and receive the support they need. Wendell and Betsy now live in a Generations Community, where they can enjoy the fruits of his labor. Wendell remains the company’s chairman and visionary, while CEO and daughter Melody runs the day-to-day operations. We truly are a family taking care of families.
So, what does that actually mean for our residents? It means we provide our residents with what we all want in an independent or assisted living community — luxury living that supports our independence, brings people together, encourages learning and provides excellent care where and when needed.
Staff
In addition to our family being at the helm of Generations senior living communities, we attract and retain the best staff and treat them like family. Every year Generations recognizes employees who have exemplified exceptional performance, achievement, or supreme qualities of character and culture. There are seven categories of awards recognizing specific achievements, some eligible only by specific job position or length of employment.
We take pride in offering continuing education and training opportunities for our program leaders such as additional fitness training through the Stronger U Senior Fitness certification program, so that residents can be assured they are receiving care and learning from staff that is well-trained and up-to-date on certifications.
Community
At Generations, we want to be an alternative to traditional senior care with living options that are devoted to family. We encourage family involvement, and organize many multigenerational social events to bring extended families together. Each Generations community develops its own unique identity, embracing the diverse physical, intellectual and spiritual needs and interests of its residents and staff.
Every month we explore a Culture Topic related to wellness, personal growth, and lifelong learning. These topics spur discussion, activities and community that support residents, just like a family should.
Along with the monthly Culture Topic, our Vitality programs create numerous options for staff, residents and family to form a community. From swimming pools and golf courses to ping pong, residents can find ways to connect with one another in a meaningful way. At Generations, we ensure that we foster the physical, mental, and spiritual growth according to the needs and preferences of each individual.
At Generations, we want to be the place where people want to be to live better, longer. Be sure to check out a Generations Community near you.
